Somerville Man Charged With Fatally Stabbing Weymouth Man Inside Laundromat

A Somerville laundromat became a murder scene after a man was stabbed and later died of his injuries, authorities said.

Weymouth resident Joseph Muzzi, age 33, was stabbed in the evening of Monday Dec. 6 inside Spin Cycle Laundromat on Main Street, the Middlesex District Attorney's Office reports. He was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital where he died from the attack. 

Somerville resident Darien Burns, age 53, has been arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, the office reports. 

Police arrived at the scene around 7:00 p.m. to find Muzzi suffering from an apparent stab wound. Burns remained at the laundromat and was arrested. 

Police were spotted removing bags of laundry from the murder scene to use as evidence, according to a video tweeted by NBC10 Boston's Oscar Margáin. 

The motive for the stabbing is unknown and under investigation by the DA's Office, Somerville Police and Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office.
